Albany County and Advance Albany County Alliance Welcome New $40 Million Expansion at Atlas Copco Plant in Voorheesville

October 27, 2026

Voorheesville, N.Y.

Albany County and Advance Albany County Alliance today celebrated the ribbon cutting at Atlas Copco Comptec’s $40 million expansion and new high-bay facility at its engineered industrial compressor factory in Voorheesville. The project, built with significant funding and assistance from the Alliance and its managed agencies, marks a significant commitment to Atlas Copco’s local employees, families and retirees as well as the greater Capital Region community.

“My administration’s core mission is to generate growth for Albany County. Today’s ribbon cutting represents economic growth, job growth and more foreign direct investment in Albany County — as well as $1.16 million in additional tax revenue over the next decade, to be shared among the Voorheesville Central School District and local municipalities,” said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. “I congratulate Atlas Copco on their expansion and welcome their leadership to Albany County. We look forward to this long, fruitful and continuing commitment.”

Total Alliance-directed assistance and grants to Atlas Copco included a $475,000 Sustainable Technology and Green Energy (STAGE) grant to support general construction, and combined assistance through the Albany County Industrial Development Agency (ACIDA) totaling $4.2 million.

“Atlas Copco is a prime example of Advance Albany County Alliance building on local strengths to deepen ties with our business community,” said Alliance CEO Kevin O’Connor. “Atlas Copco’s commitment to its Voorheesville employees is clear: the company invests in its people and knows the talent base that Albany County provides. By investing in turn in the growth of Atlas Copco, the Alliance is supporting a key local industry and the greater green economy, making Albany County a greater place to do business and achieving the mission set forth by the County Executive.”

Atlas Copco makes a variety of innovative compressors, including carbon compressors which sequester trapped carbon and store it in products like concrete and pavement. The company’s largest such compressors may now be produced in Albany County thanks to the 65,000-square-foot high-bay expansion, which includes multiple interior cranes capable of lifting and moving machines and components previously impossible to efficiently build at the Voorheesville factory.

The expansion is expected to add 55 local jobs at full capacity and retains 248 jobs, while manufacturing climate-friendly technology locally.

The project deepens the Alliance’s base of foreign direct investment. In the past two months, the Alliance and Albany County additionally celebrated more than $3 million in assistance for foreign companies expanding their local footprint:

  • Belgium-based heavy cargo transporter Aprojects Americas is expanding its U.S. headquarters at the Port of Coeymans and will occupy a 75,000-square-foot logistics and staging facility at the Coeymans Industrial Park, as well as benefitting from the Alliance-supported purchase of a 160-ton mobile crane. Total Albany County incentives and assistance for the project exceed $2 million.
  • German-owned company NSH USA Corporation received a $908,000 committed STAGE grant for construction of a $12 million manufacturing facility at its Menands campus. The investment supports 137 jobs created and retained, and extends the company’s 125-year history in Albany County.
