Mr. McCoy has served as Albany County Executive since January 2012, following 12 years as a County Legislator representing the 10th District. During his tenure in the Legislature, Mr. McCoy was unanimously elected Chairman, serving in this capacity for two years. He held the position of Chairman of the Albany County Democratic Committee, becoming the youngest person to do so.
As County Executive, Mr. McCoy has prioritized fostering economic development, launching the Advance Albany County Alliance to support emerging companies, create jobs, improve wages and expand the County’s tax base. He’s expanded domestic violence court services countywide, and restructured healthcare delivery systems within Albany County. He has made historic investments in both the MVP Arena and Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, reopened and revitalized Lawson Lake County Park and completed and enhanced the Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail. has also worked to address the County's operating de?cit while promoting innovative policies to enhanced community growth and well-being.
County Executive McCoy served as President of both the County Executives of America and the County Executives Association of the New York State Association of Counties during the COVID-19 Pandemic. He is the immediate past president of NYSAC and serves as a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Counties (NACo).
